The "commissions" paid to correctional facilities (as high as 60%) drive the cost of prisoner phone calls to outrageous levels. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has both the authority and the responsibility to ensure that fair rates are charged on each and every in-state and out-of-state phone call. The FCC is preparing to act on a proposal to lower rates, but only for out-of-state calls at three privately operated prisons.

To get the FCC to lower rates on all calls requires your immediate action. You can help stop the abuse by writing a letter today, telling the FCC about the high rates you have been forced to pay. Ask the FCC to set fair rates for all prisoner phone calls from every jail and prison.
